BMCS Matthew Welsh (L), Officer In Charge Coast Guard Station Milford Haven, & CDR Steven Whitehead (R), Diretor Of Auxiliary 5TH District Southern Region, with Jim Thomas (C), Past Flotilla 33 & Division 03 Commander, during the awards ceremony on Saturday January 14th. Flotilla 33 was awarded the DIVISION 03 FLOTILLA OF THE YEAR AWARD. Flotilla 33 members also received the following annual awards:

Flotilla 33 and members presented awards at the 2010 Division 3 Change of Watch at Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club on Saturday January 16. (L to R): Jim Thomas, Coxswain of the Year & Public Affairs Awards; Frans Kasteel, Auxiliarist of the Year & Marine Safety Awards; Brian McArdle, Boat Crew of the Year, Recreational Boating Safety, & Program Visitor Awards; Wally Dawson, Flotilla 33 Commander, Flotilla of the Year 1st Place Award. During 2009 Flotilla 33 members contributed over 20,000 hours to the Coast Guard & recreational boating public.

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS

The Auxiliary is a volunteer organization. Membership is open to any citizen of the United States who is at least 17 years of age. A Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) will be processed as part of enrollment and must have a favorable determination to complete one's membership in the Auxiliary.

A monthly commitment of at least 10 to 20 hours is a great guide. Some of our members have more available time, but all members are asked to provide some level of support in one or more of our mission areas.

If you are interested in learning more, please attend one of our monthly meetings which are open to the public. For information on meetings please click the link under members to the left.

After the meeting the Flotilla Commander, our local unit leader, can talk more in depth with you. A New Member Study Guide will be provided.   

The complete membership package consisting of an application, fingerprint cards, and ID photo will be submitted to our Director of Auxiliary in Portsmouth, Virginia. Processing generally takes 6 to 8 weeks.
