FLOTILLA 33 MONTHLY MEETINGS

Flotilla 33 has regular meetings on the 2nd Monday of January, February, April, May, July, August, September, October, and November. Meetings begin at 1930 (7:30 pm) at Grace Episcopal Church on South Main Street in Kilmarnock VA.

Meetings generally include announcements, awards, Commanders Report, Staff Reports, a special program or training session. After the meeting is fellowship time with refreshments. 

In March, June, and December special fellowship events are scheduled as follows:

March brings the annual Awards Dinner. The location varies. Check Calendar For Details.

June is annual picnic month overlooking beautiful Carters Creek. Check Calendar For Details.

December features the annual Change Of Watch at Indian Creek Yacht & Country Club. Check Calendar For Details.

UNITED STATES COAST GUARD AND COAST GUARD AUXILIARY RECOGNIZE RAPPAHANNOCK RECORD FOR PROMOTING SAFE BOATING

KILMARNOCK, VIRGINIA. United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 33 recognized the contribution of its members at their annual dinner.  Among the awards earned was the Division’s Flotilla of the Year Award for 2017 and Operations Flotilla of the Year.  Individual recognition for Division Awards went to Paul Lassanske for Program Visits, Mary McCoig, Rookie of the Year and Don Gallagher for Crewman of the Year.  In addition, Mike Kelley, Flotilla Education Officer was presented with a special Flotilla Commander’s Letter of Commendation for his work in Public Education.

The highlight of the evening was a presentation to Robert Mason and the Rappahannock Record.  “Mr. Mason and the Rappahannock Record has been very important in our strategy of promoting Safer Boating,” commented Pat Hogan, Flotilla Commander.  “They have been instrumental in making boating safer for families in the community.”  On the plaque presented to Mason it read, “You never know how many lives you save by promoting safe boating.”

Commodore Dave Adams, representing the Fifth Southern District which includes Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina, remarked on the success of Flotilla 33 and its members average of 406 hours contributed to the Coast Guard in 2017.  “Year after year, this Flotilla is a force multiplier for the United States Coast Guard and assists them in successfully completing their mission,” stated Adams.
